HELB is an engineering company with 30 years of professional experience in electric power infrastructure. We offer complete service at all stages of your facility’s development: from design, production, construction, management and maintenance to testing and commissioning.

The focus on our clients is our foundation, resulting in the creation of innovative products and solutions in the shortest time possible and according to the specific needs of our customers.

Our rich experience portfolio encompasses works on facilities for production, transmission and distribution of electricity at all voltage levels as well as works on a variety of industrial facilities. Also, we have developed automation and power supply products for oil and gas exploration plants that enable cost savings and significantly improve the drilling process.

Our focus is on education and team spirit, and our team consists of motivated and innovative employees with a high degree of personal and collective responsibility.

HELB has started its business back in 1990 with just two employees, and today it has more than 200 employees and external associates. Below is just a fraction of the history of our company which has evolved from servicing transformer stations to one of the leading electrical engineering companies in the region.

  • 1990

    Since its beginning, HELB has been working in the field of power engineering, primarily with big company groups such as INA and HEP. Over time, because of the flexibility and quality of work and the speed of response to customer requirements, the scope and complexity of the services provided increases, and the team is joined by experienced engineers from the Končar group.

  • 1994

    The company conducts the first transformer station reconstruction at medium voltage (MV) at the oil field of Đeletovci. In further development HELB's staff gives strong contribution to the projects of INA oil fields.

  • 1995

    Establishment of the Quality Control Department.

  • 1996

    The first construction project of the substation at MV.

  • 1998

    HELB enters the oil and gas exploration area and soon develops the first container plant for the supply and control of AC electric motors, MCC (Motor Control Center), for the national company Crosco - Petroleum Services.

  • 1999

    ISO 9001 certificate for quality management system.

  • 2000

    The company establishes itself as one of the leaders in the field of installation, testing and commissioning of medium voltage power plants and successfully performs works on extremely demanding power plants. Apart from participating in projects related to generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, HELB has been involved in the construction of many supporting energy facilities as a part of the road infrastructure development in Croatia. This year, the company's new headquarters were also built.

  • 2001

    The first construction project of the substation at HV.

  • 2002

    Electro-designing activities started.

  • 2003

    Development of the first container SCR plant.

  • 2004

    Strong market expansion in Croatia. With participation in projects related to generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, with the development of road infrastructure in Croatia HELB has been involved in the construction of many supporting energy facilities.

  • 2005

    First project in Russia: participation in construction of floating drilling platform.

  • 2007

    HELB holds 50% of the market share in Croatia on the MV network.

  • 2008

    The entry into the market of renewable energy is marked by the construction of Vrataruša - the first wind farm in Croatia connected to the 110 kV network with a capacity of 42 MW.

  • 2009

    Numerical-relay protection and specialized testing activities started.

  • 2010

    ISO 14001 certification for environmental management systems.

  • 2011

    Work on the first photovoltaic plant for A1 in cooperation with MOBILCOM Austria. Launched Energy Certification Activities by signing a contract for UNDP - United Nations Development Program. In the same year HELB was licensed for mounting and testing HV cable connectors and terminals.

  • 2012

    Increasing international activities - entering 15 markets.

  • 2013

    HELB carries out a greenfield project in Kurdistan - four high-voltage TSs on a turnkey basis. An entry into the wholesale Chinese market was achieved, thanks to ABB's engagement with numerical relay protection on MV switchgear. That same year, an important reference in the EU market is realized - MV transformer stations reconstruction in Scotland.

  • 2014

    HELB joins the Intelligent Energy Cluster and exhibits at international oil and gas fairs: MEOS in the Kingdom of Bahrain and OMC Ravenna in Italy.

  • 2015

    Construction of a new production and business building has been completed, which is energy efficient and has significantly lower electricity consumption. The facility is equipped with its own Energy Management System (developed by HELB's employees) and a 30kW solar power plant.

  • 2016

    HELB begins the first project on the reconstruction of the Dubrovnik airport transformer station, and the works were carried out in the height of the tourist season without air traffic disturbance. This year, a project of complete winterization of the EMSCO 605 plant for the client CROSCO is also highlighted. In cooperation with HOPS and Siemens, the delivery and primary installation of the GIS 110 kV plant in Ploče Port was performed.

  • 2017

    HELB is involved in the project of the largest geothermal power plant in Europe - Velika 1, where the company has been recognized as a complete and independent contractor of electrical engineering works. Same year, the team of engineers conducted the testing of offshore substation at Walney Extension, world’s largest wind farm project.

  • 2018

    HELB records new projects around the world - from the Philippines through Egypt, Greece and England to New Mexico and Argentina. The work on Siemens's megaproject in Egypt, the largest project in the history of Siemens, is emphasized. HELB is exhibiting for the first time at Hannover Messe, the largest industrial fair in the world, continuing a successful series of performances at international and domestic fairs.

  • 2019

    The continuation of activities directed at the establishment of the HELB Academy for the Training of Production and Sales Personnel, young engineers and training of workers from other companies.
